Many guidebooks and web pages recommend running Lavozella Creek in
conjunction with it's sister, Pauley Creek.
From a purely whitewater perspective, I strongly suggest two laps on Pauley Creek, because Lavozella Creek
only has one or two decent drops and lots of bouldery class II. The
scenery is very nice, but this creek not nearly
as classic as its neighbor, unless you want something different just for the variety. Take out in Downieville and follow the
Pauley Creek shuttle
directions, but simply drive past the Second Divide Trail and park at
Lavozella Creek and start kayaking there.
