Stepping Stones: V and V+

Now we are beyond the general class I-V rating system. At this point ratings are very subjective, as we refer to these runs as class V, yet they are one to two classes harder than Burnt Ranch on the Trinity or Giant Gap on the North Fork American. Perhaps we should just say harder class V. This vague discrepancy about classification is why this guide is being written. Make sure you are well versed in the previous Stepping Stone runs first! These rivers are where the Sierra Nevada really begin to outshine the Coastal Range mountains in a big way. We’ll start by picking up where we left off.
