It's just too easy to
get caught up in the latest and greatest and miss the big picture.
Exceptionally easy in photography with all the new fancy gear out.
Funny thing I noticed today is that two of my recently published images
were taken when my D700 was in the shop and I was shooting with not
only an outdated Nikon D200, but a cheap Sigma 18-200mm lens too. Not
just small partial page prints, but the
Canoe and Kayak cover and a two
page spread in
Rapid. This just
goes to illustrate that it's more important to go out adventure and get
pictures with an older camera then to have the latest, best piece of
gear. A good reminder for me. There were moments in Japan it would have
been nice to have the D700 and 24-70mm f/2.8, but on the whole I got by
just fine with the light, unobtrusive Sony NEX-5N.
