Nikon D700, Nikkor 28mm f/2 AI-S @ 30: f/2 ISO 3200

The above image proved to be quite popular on facebook too, so I thought it only fitting to make it a  desktop background for those who desire. The above is 800x600 and other resolutions are below. There is nothing like camping on the river in a remote canyon. It's a mix of  moonlight and firelight, neither of which were visible to the eye. Amazing how a camera can pick up more than the human eye with a nice longer exposure. The fuzzy stuff in the foreground is an out of focus section of granite slab that I had the camera balanced on, no tripods on the Devil's Postpile.

Also just got in a pretty new Sony Nex-5n. The original Nex-5 was almost everything I could want in a whitewater only  camera, minus a few fatal flaws. Seems that the Nex-5n has solved those problems, but of course only extensive use on the river will tell.  Looking forward to not lugging the D700 down the river, as the Sony Nex-5, 18-55 kit lens and Nikon 75-150 weigh the same as the D700 without lenses.
