Reviewing an item in depth is no easy task. I suppose that's why magazines have superficial reviews of drytops. Every review I have seen has been useless because we need to know how these items perform over time. All the products are dry the first day, but what about after a year of use? I had a year old drytop from brand x leak more than a similar aged one from brand y, while the brand y drytop didn't even have a neck gasket in it! So I'm throwing down a gauntlet here. I challenge any magazine to get a drytop from every manufacturer and put them all through twenty wash cycles in a washing machine with no detergent. Replace gaskets if needed, then use the drytop in a play session and give the people out there real reviews.

These are the most likely drytops, with the first marketing line taken from each manufacturer. They all make bold claims, I'd like to see each brand give one to the magazine to test:

Bomber Gear Bomb $389.99
"Our Bomb Long Sleeve Dry Top is one of the highest quality dry tops on the market."

Immersion Research X Jacket $425
"The very best dry top IR has to offer, and perhaps the driest top on the market today."

Kokatat Rogue $425
"Combining form, function and Kokatat’s superior construction techniques, the Rogue Dry Top is a year-rounder that sets the standard for dry tops."

Level Six Reign $399.99
"It offers unparalleled durability and comfort all in the most watertight top ever created by Level Six."

 NRS Revolution $329.95
"The NRS Revolution Drytop is the toughest, most waterproof kayaking dry top on earth."

Alternates that are not common at dealers in the US:

Palm Atom $360.95
"Featuring industry leading technology, the Atom is our most technically advanced whitewater jacket. "

Sandiline FreeRide $359.99
"All important features you need for freeride kayaking are combined in this product."

Stohlquist Freefall $327.95
"The Freefall drytop is designed and constructed to meet the needs of creeking paddlers with a whole new level of comfort, mobility, and waterproof durability."

Sweet Prophecy $600
"The Prophecy GORE-TEX® dry top was our first piece of technical whitewater clothing. It’s an extremely rugged top that will soldier on together with the Prophecy GORE-TEX® Dry Pants."
