Kyotsu Canyon
Sony NEX-5N, Sigma 19mm f/2.8 @ 1/500
f/4 ISO 200
In the above Daniel
Brasuell runs a rapid in one of the worlds most incredible canyons on
the Kyotsu Gawa, Japan. Most of this run is class IV but it is guarded
by one dangerous class V with no real portage options. It's incredible
a run of this quality doesn't have the international recognition it
merits, but I am sure one day that will come.
If you're a facebook
user I recently put up ten images from the last year for the "Photographer
of the Year" section of the Rider of the Year awards. What's
interesting is that 8/10 of the images were taken with the $600 Sony
NEX-5N, and only two with the expensive $2,800 Nikon D700. Technology
has come a long ways and it's good to see that great camera equipment
gets more affordable every day.
