Two updates:
The
Astral Brewer Review updated and a review of a
Tilt Adapter for Nikon F mount to Sony E.
An interchangeable lens camera is part of a system, and like all
systems is only as good as the weakest link in the chain. When I got
the original Sony NEX-5 I assumed that more lenses would be following
in short order. Unfortunately that has not been the case. Since the
NEX-5 was released, Sony has only released five new lenses, most of
them rather puzzling choices. Is a 16-50mm variable aperture zoom what
people really want when they already have an 18-55mm variable aperture
zoom? Yet they have released six new bodies. If you count video
E-Mount bodies the total comes up to twelve. There are simply no good
zooms to use on the NEX-7. In light of that I have decided to give the
Olympus OM-D E-M5 and Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 a try. Outside of the
terrible name, the camera looks promising. Similar frame rate and
buffer as the NEX-7, but with a weatherproof body and most importantly,
many good lenses to choose from. The only question is will the image
quality hold up with the smaller sensor? I'm obviously guessing that
the good lenses on the Olympus will level the playing field with the
great Sony sensors in the NEX series. Only real world use will tell.
