In first image I like the mix of light and dark. The paddler is
pretty far in the left of the frame, which doesn't give them much space
to move into. I'm curious what might happen next, but without showing
it or a horizon/gradient it ends up a little bit bland.
David's second image is a great shot too. I like how you can see the
large boils at the bottom of the drop, but I just don't understand
throwing a paddle on a drop smaller than thirty feet.
VS Jakub Sedivy's first picture has
the paddler quite centered, but it works well with the rainbow and
overall composition. This particular image reminds me of Deb Pinniger's
work.
Having been to this spot on the Palguin makes this
image more impressive. It's a rather blah spot and we didn't get out.
The mix of highlights, midtones and shadows is great. The use of a
fisheye to capture the twist and swirl is a great choice.
At the end it appears the judges agree with the
popular vote and Jakub Sedivy gets third place, as well as the final
prize in the competition. Thanks to everyone for voting, playing or
watching.
